On Sunday, June 26th I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Marla and Eugene as they were surrounded by friends and family. I’m incredibly honored to have taken part in their special day and want to congratulate them once again! More pictures coming soon…

Here is a photo shoot from about 3 months ago I did for my friend Steve. He needed a few pictures for his newly launched website, so we got together and knocked some out. My favorite one is the one of him sitting against the log cabin reading a book. All these were shot in daylight around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, but this picture looks like it was shot at night.

With photography first impressions are very important and a lot – if not all – of your work comes from someone seeing your pictures and evaluating if you are good enough. So, when it came to getting business cards I wanted something that would stand out and leave a great first impression.

Initially I thought about getting the standard business card with my info on the back and one of my best pictures on the front. But the thing is, I don’t just want to take just one type of picture. I love taking pictures of people, food and a bunch of other things and having just one picture wouldn’t represent all the things I want to shoot.

That’s where Moo comes in! At first the cost kept me from ordering as moo’s cards are a bit more pricier than your standard business cards. There are plenty of placed where you can get 1000 business cards for around $50 that are very high quality cards and will do everything you need them to do. I knew the quality of moo cards were just as good as anything you could get because I’d seen and heard about them from a bunch of people. At around $120 for 400 cards there are better options out there if you are looking to save money. But, if you want to leave a great first impression, a small photo or in the case of moo’s cards, a number of small photos of what your photography looks like can go a long way and make the extra investment well worth it.

Since I’ve started handing out my moo cards, peoples reactions have always been positive and they have clearly helped at landing me new clients.

While walking in the city the other day, I wanted to take some pictures of reflections on buildings. Here are three of the better ones from that trip. It rained on and off throughout the day and that made for some awesome clouds and when the sun shined through, it provided great light and reflections.

Also this is the first time I’ve done HDR. I’m not really a fan of HDR but I thought these pictures called for a slight tweak. With the new HDR Toning in Photoshop CS5 it was only a matter of time until I gave it a shot. I didn’t want to go over board so I duplicated the original picture and placed it over the HDR version and lowered the opacity to just let the HDR Toning come through. While this isn’t really HDR, I’m pleased with the way they turned out and I’m sure I’ll be doing more in the future.
